Default SLOW FUNCTIONS

Dear Experts,

I have a 'new" excel 2007 & need to run in compatability mode because most
of my associates have 2003.

Almost all functions - from cut and paste or copy and paste are delayed
while the little blue circle thing spins. Usually form 4 to 10 seconds. it
really adds up. What can I do to correct ?
Thanks

I am running 2007 on a 5 year old PC and do not experience what you describe.

Is your PC really old?
Do you have much RAM? (this thing has 1G of RAM, running WinXP)
Do you have any add-ins loaded that might not be completely compatible with
2007?

My machine is 4 Mo old, and have 2M of RAM, running on Vista, no add ins, but
all of my Exel files are 2003 or older. I need to be compatable to 2003.

There has to be something external to XL2007 itself causing your problem. I
have a newer PC at home running Vista and 2007, and it is very, very
responsive. Mostly I have to work in compatibility mode, too, but I haven't
noticed that there's a speed difference between file types.

Any add-ins? Any macros that look at the active workbook for changes to
cells? What happens if you start Excel in safe mode?
Use the Run command on the Start menu and type in

Excel -safe

See if that makes it any faster. If so, look for an add-in of some sort

Hi
Check to see if you have Google Desktop installed.
If so, remove it.
It can be a killer for speed.
