Formatting problem with basic excel sheet
Hi, sorry if this has come up before but I have a problem with my excel sheet
that I use to store/collate my data for work. Recently (past 2-3 days) the cells have started to display data in a peculiar manner. my data is entered into the cell as a mixture of text and numbers across the cell with the word wrap on some of the borders are formated, there are no formulae in the individual cells. however over the past days the formatting of the data has changed in that the text now runs verticaly down the cell e.g. from AName to A N a m e I hasten to add this is not a function of the text direction function of the format menu Does anyone have any suggestions as to a permanent fix? thanks |

How wide is the column with AName?
If narrow, wrap text and autofit will result in your example. Hi
sorry but that isn't the answer cell is easily wide enough to take the example several times over and this does not happen in 1 cell it occurs in most of the cells in the sheet. Formatting problem with basic excel sheet
Hi Gord,
Nope apart from the counts on some of the cells I use on another part of the sheet the cells in question are only used for data storage names addresses other details etc. For what its worth though I don't count this as a solution I have found a way to "repair" the damage but as I have to do this every line I add it's a tad inconvenient. It's strange but to get the words horizontal again I have to change the text font to "black" from "automatic" Does this help? I would dearly love to figure out what is happening and how to permanently fix this problem thanks for your help Susanna "Gord Dibben" wrote: Any code running that would do the deed?
