Have new laptop and have activated 2007 Office & Student. I put several
spreadsheets from my desktop on a disk and used the new system to update the
file. This worked fine, but when I tried to save the file a "save as" box
appeared that was saving a copy of my document.

When I used save button a notice appeared that said "Path does ot exist.
Check the path and try again"

What do I need to do?

Where are you trying to save the documents to? Excel will automatically try
to save back to the original path, this will be your backup disk if you
haven't copied it your new laptop hard drive.

What kind of disk? 3.5" floppy (yeah, I'm a dinasaur), optical as CD/DVD?
Removable hard drive of some type?
Since it's a new laptop and I doubt that you have a 3.5" floppy drive on it,
I'll presume that it's CD or DVD? In which case the problem reported may be
a way of saying that it can't be written to a read-only disk. Most CD/DVDs
can't be written to directly using something like Save As.

If it's something like a thumb drive or removable/USB connected hard drive,
then we have a deeper hole to dig.

With the combined info I realized I could not save back to the disk. When I
saved to the laptop everything worked just fine.

Thanks.
