If you want the cell to be blank if the original cell is blank, then try
=IF(Sheet1!A2="","",Sheet1!A2)

By "worksheet" do you actually mean "workbook" which contains worksheets?

See help on "linking to other workbooks"

If you mean worksheet then see David's reply.

Basically the same except you would be linking sheet references from two
workbooks.

=[Workbook1.xls]Sheet1!$A$1
