Is it possible to switch back to the 2003 display with pull down menus in
lieu of all the new Icons? If so how? I find the 2007 versions very
difficult to use.

You can get (some are free) addins
Classic Menu and Toolbars in XL 2007
http://www.addintools.com/english/menuoffice/
Excel-2007 add-in to display XL 2003 menubars & toolbars

ToolbarToggle:

But if you give it a decent chance you will get used to the ribbon
best wishes

I have been using 2007 for a while now, and once you get to used to the new
way of doing things, it really is more efficient to use. Of course, you have
to get past the frustrating part of not being able to find what you need!
These interactive from '03 to '07 websites can really reduce that
frustration level. If you know exactly how to do it the old way, but can't
find it the new way, this lets you make the '03 selection and then show you
how to do it in '07. They are still on my favorites list!
