Is there a way to convert a table now set up in Word, to Excel? I can't find
it in the help screens (only converting the other way....)

I tried that, but it seems impossible to work with. Everything I try fails,
(after I copy/ paste) ie. I inserted another row, then attempted to re.
number rows- got an error msg. "This operation requires the merged cells to
be identically sized". Other things gave different error msgs. ie "cannot
change part of a merged cell"

My table was a very simple one: all cells were the same size.
Try a simple table and let us know what happens

Make sure that you're not trying to copy into, or across, any XL cells that
have been merged!
