ExcelBanter - Using as a Table (no number values)

Hi Christine,

Depending on how much space your data takes in each cell and whether you can
make it look satisfactory for your requirements, you could use Merge cells in
your first set of data so that you have 3 sets of 2 columns wide and one
which is only one column wide totalling the 4 columns. You can then have the
7 columns below for the second set of data.

Do not try to merge columns containing data because you will loose data. You
need to set this up on a new worksheet and then copy the data into the new
worksheet one column at a time.

To merge the cells, select 2 adjacent cells say A1 and A2. Click on merge
icon (On the formatting toolbar). Repeat for next 2 cells C1 and D1.

Select and Copy the merged cells and then select the area to which they are
to be pasted (say A2 to F100) and Past Special-Formats. (Do not try to paste
over the copied cells because it removes the merge.)

This method does have its drawbacks in that you cannot set column widths in
the top part of your data without affecting the column widths in the bottom
part. (and vice versa)

Using Excel 2003 and typing a table. The first part of the table is four
columns wide and takes up 2.5 pages. The second part of the table is 7
columns wide and will take up the other half of that page. Is there a way to
make the first table remain at 4 columns using up the entire width of the
paper (set as landscape), but then make the second table now become a 7
column wide table using the same entire width of the paper? I've tried a few
things (page break, etc.) but nothing seems to work for me and the help
option hasn't helped either. Thank you in advance.
