where is the Analysis Group in Excel?

I downloaded a Statistical Add-on for Excel. According to the help entry, I
am to look for the Analysis Group under the Data Tab and then click on Data
to activate the add-on. Only problem is is that there is no Analysis Group
when I click on the Data Tab. Nor is there an entry in the Help index for
either Data Tab or Analysis Group.

It is this kind of thing that turns people into Luddites.

Downloaded to where?

What is the name of the add-in and have you enabled it under ToolsAdd-ins?

Your add-in should be adding the menu items to your Excel Data menu.

Excel help would have no entry for assistance with a third-party add-in.

First, thanks Gord for the assistance.

Second, the name of the add-in is Analysis ToolPak. I believed it was from
Microsoft. And it is covered in Help. But the section in Help refers to other
items, such as a Data Analysis Group, that are not in Help. Annoying but not
your problem. I have sent a nasty gram to Microsoft about it.

Third, one of my problems with Excel 2007 is that I have not found an icon
for Tools. It may be there somewhere, but I have not found it as yet. Nor
have I found how to activate it in Help. Quite annoying, but maybe it
represents my incompetence, something my wife stresses frequently.

Fourth, and most mysterious, NOW there is a Data Analysis Tab under the Data
Tab. Perhaps, I needed to reboot before it appeared because it was not there
yesterday.

Again thanks for the help.

PS The add-in is pretty slick.

The Analysis Toolpak is installed with Excel.

It is not a download.

Load it through ToolsAdd-ins and checkmark it.

For a list of where 2007 menu commands are located see Ron de Bruin's site.

Thanks again for the help. Analysis Toolpak seems to need to be configured
or something in Excel 2007 before it is available. (Maybe because I started
by downloading a trial version and then buying it.) Anyway, it is not hard to
do.

I also checked out the page on the web site you recommended. Pretty cool. It
basically tells you where to find commands in Excel 2007 that you may have
used in earlier versions of Excel. Unfortunately, "Tools" no longer seems to
exist as a Tab label in Excel 2007. I suspect this is going to take some
getting used to.

I have Analysis Toolpak working fine now.

I have not yet upgraded to 2007.

The steady advancement towards septugenarianism makes everything a steep curve.

where is the Analysis Group in Excel?

Hi Jeff

Alt T starts the Tools dialogue, so Alt T O brings up Options, the same
as clicking the round Office ButtonExcel options
Alt T M M will bring up Macros

But for some reason, Alt T D brings up Document management, rather than
Data Analysis, maybe this is because Data Analysis is now on the Data
tab as you have found.

In order for it to appear, you must have Analysis Toolpak ticked
Alt T O Addinsat bottom of page, Manage Excel AddinsGotick Analysis
Toolpak.

Thanks

While I was messing around on Saturday trying to get things to work, I
managed to find that page and do that. That must have been what got it going,
but by that time I was so exasperated that I must have missed the fact that
my problem was solved. So when I booted on Sunday ....

Anyway, you and Gord have taught me stuff that pure messing around was not
too likely to elucidate

You select Office Button/Excel options/add-ins The at the bottom you will
see a box labeled Manage: and in the box Excel add-ins. Select go.
Then select Conditional sum wizard, Lookup wizard, Solver add-ins. And if
your add-in appears here select it too. Then press OK. It will take a bit to
install the addins. Excel 2007 does them one at a time slowly. After doing
so, you will have an Analysis Group with Solver in it at the right in the
Data tab. If your add-in is not there, then repeat the process, but instead
of Excel-addins, look under com in the selection box where Excel
addins-appears. Your add-in may be there. If not you'll have to find it

preventing the program from running. If not, just like Jeff i cant find where
in excel to find the program.

Note that before i upgraded to excel 2007, the add in program was working
perfectly in 2003. I uninstalled 2007 and reinstalled 2003 however i
