COUNTIF function - results are the formula only
I'm working with game stats. I'm simply trying to count the number of "W"s in
a column as opposed to "L"s. I've entered =COUNTIF(O2:O56,"W"). My result is the formula rather than the count. What am I doing wrong? |

Try formatting that cell as General (or anything but text)
then select the cell, hit F2, then enter (to reenter the formula) If that doesn't work, make sure you're not looking at formulas: tools|Options|View tab|make sure Formulas is not checked. The cell is (likely to be) formatted as TEXT: change to GENERAL and hit enter.

Thank you both, Dave and Toppers...I had the cell formatted as Text. Changing
it to general worked! :) |
