Employee list
In column A, I have a list of employee numbers. In column B I have their
first name, and in column C their last name. What I want to do is to enter an employee number in a cell, and for that cell to return their first and second name. How can I do this please? --- David Scott Hampshire, England |

Assuming that the labels are in Row 1 and the cell with the Employee Number
look up in in E2 try: =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(E2,A2:C100,2,FALSE)&" "&VLOOKUP(E2,A2:C100,3,FALSE)),"No Match found",VLOOKUP(E2,A2:C100,2,FALSE)&" "&VLOOKUP(E2,A2:C100,3,FALSE)) -- HTH Sandy In Perth, the ancient capital of Scotland and the crowning place of kings with @tiscali.co.uk "Dave" wrote in message ... To return the names in the same cell in which you enter the ID number would
require VBA code. To return the names to another cell would require a VLOOKUP formula in that cell. Assuming a table of numbers and names in A1:C10 In D1 enter the ID Number. In E1 enter =VLOOKUP(D1,$A$1:$C$10,2,FALSE)& " " &LOOKUP(D1,$A$1:$C$10,3,FALSE) Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Mon, 8 Jan 2007 21:06:11 -0000, "Dave" wrote: In column A, I have a list of employee numbers.
