Default Sheet protection help

Pls adv why the Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business (Excel), can view the formula
created by Office XP Small Business eventhough it is protected by password?

However, when i sent the file to another workstation that is using Office XP
Small Business, it could only edit the cells that were unlocked by me but it
couldn't view the formula as i used the Sheet Protection function. So, just
curious why Office 2000 can view the formula (but it can't change the
formula)?
