Divide a Cell into Multiple Parts?
 

I'm trying to divide 1 cell into multiple cells - like having a table of 1
row and 27 columns in 1 cell. Does anyone know if that's possible?

It was recommended that I try ALT+Enter - I tried that but it gives me the
equivalent of 1 column with 27 rows.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Guess it would help if you clarified what it is you are trying to achieve.
If you already have data in that format and are trying to get it into
individual cells then we can probably help you, but if you are trying to
create a cell with that inside it, then most folks in here will be thinking
'You're nuts', because that is such bad design on a spreadsheet.

If you really really want to do that then the only way you will achieve it
is by typing in your entries and separating them with a space from the space
bar, or perhaps a comma, but other than that no you cannot do it.

If in fact you have a set of data like that already in one cell, but want to
get it put into 27 separate cells, then as already advised, Data / Text To
columns is the way to go.

Thank you for the info. Here's what I'm trying to achieve (and, yes, it
probably is nuts but it's the only way I can accomplish this task)

I have a spreadsheet that has several tabs (probably too many tabs) for
processes. The first Tab is like the Index tab - it lists and links to all
of the other tabs. The index is in alphabetical order. I'm trying to create
an alphabet line at the top so you can click the letter and be taken to that
section of the index page. I was successful by creating 26 text boxes and
adding links to them.

Here's the tricky part - which I've been told is the deal-breaker: the file
is being saved as a web page - .mht. The purpose - so my teammates can link
to the document online, pick the process they need to perform, and access it
easily "accidentally" changing any of the info.

Yeah, I know it's probably impossible to do, and there are other ways to do
this, but this is the only way I have access to at the moment that works for
everyone. Worse case scenario - I can't put the alphabet list in and they
just have to scroll to the section of the page they're looking for. But, I'm
a firm believer in "it can't hurt to ask/try".
