updating problem

Hi there,

I have an on going problem with updating data from linked excel files.

1. I'm working with excel 2010.
2. The source files are excel 2007.
3. The link formula is VLOOKUP, for example:
=VLOOKUP(A3,'C:\mobiledep\marketing\Documents\[output (1).xls]Sheet1'!$A:$B,2,0)
4. The data from the source files is not updated
a. I need to open the source file.
b. In some cases it helps, in other, the data still not updated, even when the source file is open.
c. I drag the formula down the relevant rows – in some cases it helps – in other only part of the data is updated.
d. When dragging the formula down the relevant rows – a window with the file location is popping out, and I need to select the file – but in some cases it does not help.
e. In some cases I need to re-Wright the vlookup formula – and only after that – the data is updated.
5. I have about 60 deferent files linked to my master file (the file that holds all the links).
6. Also – having a similar problem with a pivot table – if the source file is not open – the data will not be updated when refreshing the pivot.
All the option in the trust center are enabled or with prompt option (as far as I can tell – but maybe there are options that I’m not aware of).
What should I do so the data will be updated in my master file when changes are being done in the source file – without having to open all the 60 file and/or re-typing the vlookup formulas?

Hhhhhhhhelp……
