Links to tabs within a spreadsheet
 

I know how to embed a link to an Excel spreadsheet into a Word document. But
is there a way to embed a link to a specific tab within the spreadsheet?

Add an anchor. Specifically, to the hyperlink, append

#Sheet1!A1

so if your hyperlink target is

file://localhost/Users/jem/Documents/workbook1.xls

then add the tab name and a cell reference:

file://localhost/Users/jem/Documents/workbook1.xls#Sheet2!A1
