![]() HI, the paste link was working for awhile until I was told that the word and excel cannot be linked in a "live" fashion. In other words they should be linked to where it is possible that they may even be on different networks and definately not in the same directory. I want the data in word in a specific template and then from that template I want to be able to even add things inbetween cells, while those cells that were exported from excel are uneditable and are the same cells that will have this link that will allow you to update in excel and have the changes automatically changed in word. do you get this? I know it's confusing, but if you can help in anyway please let me know. Thanks, Danielle JulieD Wrote: JulieD Wrote:- Hi Danielle you could try a simple copy the data in excel, then in word choose edit / paste special - and click the paste link button and then OK to create a link between an excel worksheet and word. if this doesn't give you what you want could you please explain in a bit more detail how (& where) the data is in excel and how & where you want the data in Word. -- Cheers JulieD check out www.hcts.net.au/tipsandtricks.htm ....well i'm working on it anyway "morrowkd" wrote in message ...- Hi, I am trying to export an excel worksheet to word, but want to be able to allow a user to update info. in excel and it automatically updates in word. HI Danielle
if they are not going to be on the same network then there is AFAIK no way you are going to be able to maintain a situation where if the numbers in Excel change the numbers in Word change. i guess you could set up bookmarks in word, insert the values next to the bookmarks by code and have a REFRESH button that basically re-inserts the values everytime you run it - but you still need to be able to locate (get to) the Excel file for the source data. My advice would be to re-confirm the requirements of this task and then we'll see what we can do. -- Cheers JulieD check out www.hcts.net.au/tipsandtricks.htm ....well i'm working on it anyway "morrowkd" wrote in message ...
