changing format default

I am running Excel out of Microsoft Office Pro 2003 under
Windows XP professional on a Dell PC.

When I open a new spreadsheet / workbook, and type in an
even number, the cells show no decimals. I would like the
spreadsheets always to show 2 decimal places. I tried
formatting a spreadsheet the way I wanted and saving it as
Sheet.xlt, but when I opened a new spreadsheet, it had the
old format.

I would be grateful if someone would explain how to set and
save the defaults. Thank you.

Save as Book.xlt, file type Template, in your XLSTART directory.
Sheet.xlt is the template for an additional worksheet added into a
workbook by Insert / Worksheet, so it is also needed.
