How do I create a template for excel 2000?

I need to create a template and I'm not sure of how to do it.

If you're talking about a true XL template, where you automatically open a
*copy* of the original by clicking in:
<File <New
And then click on the template name in the "General Window",
thus preserving the original from accidental revisions, it's really quite
simple.

After creating your sheet, when it comes time for the final save, click:
<File <Save As
And at the bottom of the window, expand the "Save As Type" box and click on:
"Template (*.xlt)"
Make sure you've entered an appropriate name for the template,
Then <Save

Now, just click on <File <New, and click on the name you created, and a
copy will open, with the same name as the template, but with a "1" appended
to the end of the name.
You can open as many copies as you wish at the same time, where each will
have an incremented number appended to it.

After you're finished with the template, and it's ready to save, you can
rename it and save it to the proper folder.

To revise the template itself, just make your changes to one of the copies,
then again click on "Template (*.xlt)" in the "Save As Type" box,
*BUT*
remove the appended number from the end of the name, so that you have the
exact *original* name displayed, then click on <Save.
You'll get the dialog about the file already existing, and do you want to
replace it, to which you answer "Yes".
