Hi charlene,

For a value in A1,
=INT(A1/10000)
deletes the 4 right digits.

try -

=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-4)

Charlene........It depends on exactly what sort of data you're trying to
convert.

Of the offerings so far,

=INT(A1/10000) only works on numbers.

=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-4) only works if there are more than four characters in the
cell.

This one should work in all cases, returning the cell value if there are
four characters or fewer.

=IF(LEN(A1)4,LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-4),A1)
