Date Functions in Excel

I would really like more date/time options in Excel. Go look at what Matlab
provides. Some suggestions:
- provide an option on the DATEVALUE function where the epoch (start date)
is provided by the user. Matlab default is 1-Jan-0000.
- provide an option for DATEVALUE function to specify the time of the epoch
like 12:00:00 or something like this.
- It would be great if there were canned functions to calculate number of
days since the J2000 epoch or other common epochs.
- It would be great if there were canned functions to translate the current
time or a provided time into J2000 or a time relative to a provided epoch.
- It would be helpful if the date and time functions would provide some more
functions that allow input of date and time together and calculate the serial
number of days

The DATEVALUE function does nothing but convert a text expression into a
serial number date.
If MS changed the date system it would probably destroy millions of
workbooks. Are you saying that you cannot put date and time together in
Excel or that you cannot count the serial number of days?
