formula to sort size

Hello, I have a schedule that I need to sort by size. I need a formula
in the results field to return the values that I manually entered.
Each day is looking at the previous to see what the last size was and
determine the closest size to start with, then sort in ascending or
descending order for that particular day. Repeat

Date Width Length Results
17-Apr-06 9 10 1
18-Apr-06 8 1/4 10 7/8 3
18-Apr-06 8 1/2 10 7/8 2
18-Apr-06 9 10 7/8 1
19-Apr-06 8 1/2 10 7/8 2
19-Apr-06 8 1/4 10 7/8 1

Any help is greatly appreciated.

kylnn

formula to sort size

Column A has the date the job is scheduled to run, column B has width of
the book, and column C has the length of a book. I am trying to run a
machine efficiently by sorting the width and length columns in an order
so the machine doesn't have to make a lot of adjustments to produce a
book.

Sort by the date, then by the size. The only problem is that the last
size for that day may be 8x10, so i would like the next day to sort to
the closest size for that day.

I hope that make sense.

If you are just wanting to do a custom SORT, with multiple keys, then do Data
Sort and follow the menu to select each key and order..........
