Improve Excel Help Text - Make easier to Find Function Refs
The online help for Excel functions is often difficult to search. If you are
programming Excel formulae (not macros), you need easy access to the list of built in formulae, their syntax, and descriptions. I find that I need access to this part of the help system 10x more frequently than any other excel help - but the cross referencing within functions and between functions and the 'list of functions' is not very good. Here are some suggestions to the MS writers: 1. Please add a Cross reference from each group of functions (e.g., Date andTime Functions) to the list of function types (i.e., the next level up in the hierarchy). If I'm looking at a date function & it's not the function I want, I want to go up the hierarchy to all date/time functions. If that's not the right function, I want to be able to walk up the hierarchy to all functions. 2. Please add the function list into the List of Contents - it's really difficult to find from the Manual TOC. 3. More x-refs from functions - groups of functions - list of groups 4. Look at the index list & get more of these into the index. Seaching "Functions" or "syntax" or things like this should get you to the function lists. Many thanks. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
