Excel won't let you do this kind of thing with formulas.

You'll need to keep the last name in a separate cell, as text, and bold those
cells. You can't bold a portion of a formula, or its results "niquey" wrote: i have used a formula that takes the first and last names or peoples names and combines them together with a comma. I want the last name to be bold and the first name to be normal. how do i do this? |

i have got the last and first names in separate cells. But then im supposed
to combine them in a formula, except the last name has to be bold and the first name normal...? Excel WILL NOT allow you to apply different formatting to compnents of a
formula. If you must have everything in the a single cell, then 1) use the formula to get the value you want, 2) copy the formulas then use EditPaste Special values to convert them to values, not formulas, and 3) manually format the last names as bold "niquey" wrote: i have got the last and first names in separate cells. Not if you want to keep it a formula.
If you don't want the formula anymore, you can use Duke's technique. niquey wrote: but i have to do that for my assignment :S there must be some way. Isn't there?
