How do you save a spreadsheet with formulas to appear as values?

You must convert the formulas to values BEFORE you save it.

Select the range of formulas, press Ctrl-C to copy them, and without
changing the selection use the menu Edit-Paste Special-Values

Then save your file

If you want to permanently change the formulas to values, select the
range of formulas and choose Edit/Copy. Then choose Edit/Paste Special
and click against Values and then click OK. So for instance =1+2 would
be permanently converted to 3.
