data validation input message locatioin has become static

I have three columns where each cell has data validation and corresponding
input messages. Suddenly the input message box loction has become static,
i.e. it shows up near the upper left corner of my spreadsheet no matter which
cell in which column is selected rather than showing beside the selected
cell. I don't know how this happened and I can't figure out how to change it
back. Thanks.

"Grab" it with your mouse and place it where you want it!

If you move any data validation input message, all the messages appear
in that location.

Close and reopen the file, and it should work correctly.
