Referencing Named Ranges
I have a workbook with a variety of names ranges. I need the data to flow
into corresponding cells based on the result of a formula in a different cell. Example: A1 contains a validation drop-down of all the named ranges in the workbook. Range A2:D12 results in the selection of the drop-down in A1. These named ranges are from different workbooks. I've tried lookup functions, but they will not accept a cell reference in place of a hard-coded name to lookup the correct range of data. I need the cell reference to insert into a formula as a named range. A1=NamedRange I end up getting the value in A1 returns in the formula as only the only data. The value is not recognized as a named range. I hope this makes sense. |
Referencing Named Ranges
Hi!
Try this: INDIRECT(A1) These named ranges are from different workbooks If that's the case, using Indirect requires that those files be open. Also, if some named ranges are really named formulas like those used to create dynamic ranges, Indirect will not work. Biff "ExcelRookie" wrote in message ... Named ranges are good only within a workbook. If you are calling in
RangeNames from other workbooks, you'll need to associate it with a path and filename. hth Vaya con Dios, Chuck, CABGx3 "ExcelRookie" wrote: I have a workbook with a variety of names ranges.
