I would like to change the loan period in an amortization schedule from years
to months. Any sugestions on how to do this in a template that was
downloaded?

Change the Length of Loan period from 30 years to 360 months.

You also need to divide the rate (the Annual Rate) by 12 to fit the monthly payment schedule.
