So far I used to get the full syntax of the functions when I start entering
them in Excel. Like, when I type "=vlookup( " , the help shows
"=vlookup(lookupvalue, lookuparray," etc. It was so helpful, but stopped
now. Can somebody he me to recover this?

Check your selection under Tools Options, on the General Tab, under
Settings, in the checkbox for Function Tooltips. Make sure it's checked.
(If it is already checked, you might clear it and click OK then go back and
check it and click OK; it seems Excel forgets its settings now and again).
