calculate average hours and minutes

I am given average hours per day worked and I have to give an average hours
and minutes per week and a YTD weekly average. I can't seem to get excel to
calculate the numbers in hours and minutes format and everytime I try to
format the number to time, it puts an am or pm on it so it still won't come
out with the right answer. Please Help!

Hours and minutes in this format: 7:43, 8:09, 9:43, 6:21, 5:53 now I have to
average these hours and minutes for a weekly average and then a YTD
average......
