I am putting in a date 02-10-06 and its coming up as 10-02-06
 
i work in excel everyday, today i was putting in the date where i always put
my dates and its reversing it. anyone have any ideas? i have unstalled and
reinstalled the software thinking that would help. thank you.

By 'reversing it' do you mean it is treating the month as the days and the
days as the month?

Try checking the Regional Settings under Control panel. It may be that
something has knocked your settings from English (United States) to somehting
else, causing Excel to interpret your input differently.

There're two solutions to your problem i can suggest. First, select the sell
you're entering the date in, then go to Format-Sells-Number. In Category
select Date. There you can select date format and also location (then
corresponding date format will appear). Second solution: copy previous sell
were you entered the date before (with the right format); then select the
cell you would like to enter you date now, right click on it and select paste
special..., and select paste formats. Now in this cell you'll have the format
you want.
