Why will Excel will not save text format in a .csv file
In Excel .csv file,
I format cell as text enter 001 and save. Reopen and everything is reformatted as general and cell shows 1. Can this be fixed? |
Why will Excel will not save text format in a .csv file
If you open the .csv file in notepad (or any other text editor), what do you
see. Just because reopening the file in excel loses the leading 0's, it doesn't mean the SaveAs didn't work correctly. If you want to preserve formatting, then saving as a .csv file isn't the way to go. If you want to see what the .csv file looks like, then reopening using excel isn't the way to go. davis wrote: In Excel .csv file, I format cell as text enter 001 and save.
