Concatenate two halves of a phone number
 

I'm trying to concatenate two halves of a phone number - dialling code in one
column and number in adjacent column. Concatenate doesn't work, nor does
"&". Numbers are put in as numbers but recorded as text. Big file - 700K

what happens when you type say in C3
=A1 & B1
or
=CONCATENATE(A1,B1)
