I need a way to protect a sheet and to allow for convenient row-oriented data
entry... I have a data entry sheet to be used by me and colleagues, where we'll enter data one row at a time. Some of the fields in the rows are to be filled out (unprotected) by users and some are calculated/referenced-in (protected). I really like the Excel List functionality that, when active, has the asterisk in the first column, last row, conveniently copying down formulas and formats as soon as you start entering new data there. As soon as I protect the worksheet (checking all the check-boxes including "Allow Insert Row"), the "add-entry" row goes away. A) Is there a way to allow for the add-entry functionality while the sheet is protected? B) If not, is there a different way to allow for protection and easy row-oriented data-entry? (The only other idea I have is to create a whole slew of dummy rows, but I'd like that to be a last resort.) I'm using Excel 2003 on Windows XP, SP1. Cheers, ....paul monette... |
