Default What function to use

I am new to excel and want to find out what function to use.

I want excel to count how many times I put the a name in colum A and how may time I put the a word in colum S

Example:
If I put the name "Annie" in colum A1 and the word "Yes" in colum S1.

I only want it to count the total of times both the name annie and the word yes occor in the same line.

Hi!

Try this:

B1 = Annie
C1 = Yes

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A100=B1),--(S1:S100=C1))
