left worksheet function within a combo box

I have created a combo box which contains a list of items. Once an item is
selected, Is there a way to limit the number of characters that appears in
the combo box using the left worksheet function?

Many Thanks,

Hi
not really sure what you're trying to limit. Could you give an example
(with cell references)

Let's say for example, I have a list: aaaaa, bbbbb, ccccc, ddddd
I choose aaaaa from the dropdown. The customer needs to see the full
character count when making the selection, but once it has bee selected, we
would like the characters to be truncated to aa

Does this make sense?
