Excel Charts - Time line for random points on X axis

I am working on a chart with the data tracked in a scientific experiment
where the time intervals are not equal.

The first point is at 9 weeks, next at 6 months and tne next at 12 months.
How do I represent the spaces between these points propionate to the time
interval between these points? Please help. I could not find it in the book
-- may be I don't know the exact term that is applied to this.

Thanks for your help

Anjalika,

In order to have Excel treat the X axis as "time" and to display your data
appropriately, you need to do a few things:

1) Make sure that your X values are recognized by Excel as dates and not
text. (To double-check, change the format of the cells to a different date
format. If any do not change to the new format, Excel doesn't recognize them
as dates).

2) Choose the line, bar or column chart option (not a scatter XY chart)

3) If the previous two steps are successful, when you make the chart, under
"Chart Options" , Axes (tab) you should be able to select "time-scale" as the
format of the axis.

Good luck,

Heidi
