automatically updating "school event record" formula
I have two columns each with numbers in them. *Column A* has a current event score in it for an event. *Column B* has the alltime record in it. I want *Column B* to update with a new record anytime a *Column A* cell exceeds the value in *Column B*. If this were the case, the cell in *Column B* would then be replaced by the *Column A* cell. And then it would "lock" with the new "permanant" record until it is broken again by a higher *Column A* record. *Column A* is constantly updating, but *Column B* has to remain the same until the record is broken. I thought this would be easy but I can't get it to work or find a function that would do it for me. I tried creating a 3rd column and using some if statements to reference the other two, but keep getting circular reference errors. I don't want to use any VB. Any one good an idea?
