Custom Number Display
How can I get values to display in fractional form (only need accuracy to
0.5) while still being able to calculate with the values (or do I need a separate column with a funky text format?) |

Have you looked at FormatCellsNumberFractions? Various options there including halves which is the accuracy you specify.
