Extension to Excel INDEX function
I suggest an extension to INDEX (array format), such that it allows a limited
range to be returned, as follows: =INDEX(array, row, column, [height], [width]) I am frequently having to return part of an array, and the above functionality can only currently be done using OFFSET, as follows: =OFFSET(reference,0,0,height, width) However, OFFSET is pretty nasty - you lose the ability to trace dependencies. It makes loads more sense to use INDEX for this - I only want to work within the array, not offset it. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
