sumproduct, arrays affecting speed

Does anyone know if microsoft is addressing the major slowdown seen in
calculation speed when using advanced functions like sumproduct and array
functions?

I'm enjoying the possibilities they create but am getting quickly limited in
speed.

Yeah, but extra rows aren't exactly going to speed things up :-(

Yeah, but now we can write formulas that use ROW(1:1048576) :-)

True, but how fast (slow?) will that be? The one good thing is we can test
for dates upto 25 Nov 4770. Somehow, I don't expect human life to be around
then.
