Default GETPIVOTDATA FORMULA

I am trying to work with the GETPIVOTDATA formula... When inputting the
formula are you able to link the ITEM to another spreadsheet to change the
formula each time?

For example: When working with a pivot chart and moving that info to
another spreadsheet can you link the ITEM to a drop down list?
