why are nested subtotals coming out below outer subtotals?

I am trying to do subtotals of data that I have sorted by account code and
then location code. I subtotal by account code(outer subtotal) and then
location code (nested subtotal). when this happens, I get the location code
total listed below the account code total.

It's a known problem that should be corrected by installing this hotfix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=833855

You can visit this page on the Microsoft site, to find out which Office
updates should be installed:

http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/default.aspx
