Can Excel add a set percentage to a cell automatically when you type in a number
 

I am trying to have excel add 8% to a number automatically when I enter into a cell

Suppose the number you are about to type is 12.
Instead type=12*1.08

Or if you have a column of numbers: type in the numbers
Type 1.08 in a blank cell and copy
Select the column of numbers and use Edit|Paste Special-Multiply

if you need this in the same cell you'll need VBA (an event procedure).
Why not use an adjancet cell with the formula
=IF(A1<"",A1*1.08,"")

Change the H1:H10 to the range of your choice

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
