What is the best way to calculate the week ending date from a given
transaction date?

It depends on when your week ends and start, do you mean Friday,
Saturday or Sunday?

With the date in A1 this will return the next Saturday

=A1+7-WEEKDAY(A1)

and of course it matters what day of the week you are looking for
