How do I sort a column of computed variables in EXCEL?

I want to sort a column of character variables which have been computed by a
formula. The formula is VLOOKUP(....._). The standard sort routine does not
work because each cell contains the fomula used to arrive at the variable
rather than the variable itself. Is there a way I can copy the column and
retain the actual entries rather than the formula?

Is the VLOOKUP not working or are you trying to paste the
results somewhere else. If the later use Copy, paste special values

Otherwise, you will need to explain what you have and what is happening.

Sylgeox, copy, edit, paste special, check valves. If you don't want to write
over your data, pick another place to paste the data then edit, paste
special, check valves

Always backup your data before trying something new
