Totalling occurances in a column
hi,
im looking for a way to give totals of the number of occurances of strings in a column. the column i have has a set range of possible string values (which can be referenced in a seperate sheet) and im looking for a way to produce a table which shows how many times each of these occurances happens. i have about 6 columns that i need totals on, each has a seperate column on a seperate sheet with the values. (the list is a history of which selection is made on a cell which has data validation based upon the seperate list). every time one of the cells is changed, the user runs a macro which records each selection into the history sheet. thanks uzusan |
This seems like a job for Pivot tables to me. See
