Custom menu
I have created a workbook with an extensive custom menu. I now need to
transfer the workbook to another computer to be used elsewhere. When I transfer the file using a pen drive I can open the workbook on the traget PC but the custom menu has not been transfered and cannot be used. I have found out how to transfer it by copying the relevant file in the Application Data\Microsoft\Excel folder but is there a means by which I can easily transfer it without going through this as I need to move the file to numerous other computers? |
I find the easiest way is to have the workbook create that custom menu or
toolbar. Here's how I create that toolbar on the fly: http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?th...5B41%40msn.com If you want to add items to the worksheet menu bar, you can use John Walkenbach's menumaker: http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/tips/tip53.htm Alan M wrote: I have created a workbook with an extensive custom menu. Alan,
You could attach the commandbar to the file, though then it will always be available on the other machine, not just when the workbook is open.. The best alternative is to create and delete the commandbars on the fly: There are plenty of code samples in the archives, but if you need help, post again. Jan Karel Pieterse has an article how to create an addin:
http://www.jkp-ads.com/Articles/DistributeMacro00.htm Specifically to attach a toolbar: http://www.jkp-ads.com/Articles/DistributeMacro04.htm Did you consider building that toolbar on the fly--it really isn't too difficult and works nicely.
