What formula would I use to get -2 / -2 = -100%
I need to know how do I divide two negative numbers to come out with a
negative percentage? In other words.....-2 / -4 = -50% |
Well, math doesn't really work that way; a negative divided by a negative
yields a positive. If you want the opposite, you simply divide one negative number by the other, then multiply by -1 =-2/-4*-1 "ydr0506" wrote: I need to know how do I divide two negative numbers to come out with a negative percentage? In other words.....-2 / -4 = -50% |
I'm struggling to find any reason you'd want it to be negative, but...
Since you know 2 negatives make a positive you just have to add in another negative sign to change it back to negative, i.e. =-(-2/-4) What about -2/4 (aka negative 2 divided by POSITIVE 4), what then? Is that going to be positive?!!? -- Regards, Dave <!-- "ydr0506" wrote: I need to know how do I divide two negative numbers to come out with a negative percentage? In other words.....-2 / -4 = -50% |
