First, those are fractions, not exponential values
Second, you need only to format the cells to use a fraction format Format-Cells-Number and then choose Fraction on the left & the appropriate style on the right "Malotsha" wrote: I would like to create a worksheet working with Exponential Values e.g. 1/2 +1/5 =2/5 So, I would like for the values to appear as I want them to be. I don't want Excel to convert them e.g. 1/2 converted to 0.5 Please give me the guidelines on how to do this. So, please help? Kind regards, Malotsha Tshifhango aka Marcus mailto: |

How can *1/2 + 1/5 * be equal to *2/5*?
That is true only for very small values of 1/2 "BenjieLop" wrote: Duke Carey Wrote: First, those are fractions, not exponential values Second, you need only to format the cells to use a fraction format Format-Cells-Number and then choose Fraction on the left & the appropriate style on the right "Malotsha" wrote: I would like to create a worksheet working with Exponential Values e.g. 1/2 +1/5 =2/5 So, I would like for the values to appear as I want them to be. How can *1/2 + 1/5 * be equal to *2/5*? << That is true only for very small values of 1/2 1/2 does not have any other value and will not have any other value, whether large or small!!! If you divide "1" by "2", the answer will always be "0.5" which is a constant. -- BenjieLop ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BenjieLop's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=11019 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=399465 |
