when I enter "X" in say D12 the cell text then turns green and then turns the
text in cells H12 to L12 green as well as lines through the text? How do I
duplicate this and how do I clear this? It is on a co-workers spreadsheet who
is no longer with my company.

They have conditional formatting set up. To clear go to the cells that are
changing color, format-conditional formatting, and delete all conditions.

To duplicate you can just copy the cell this conditional formatting is set
up in and paste special-formats into the cell you would like.
