Excel will be consistent with nonnumerics. either use or ignore
 

Sometimes digits are just text and cannot be sumarized or multiplied (it is
Not Numeric). Excel is Not consistant. I can show a table were some values
are not numeric and not sumarised but at the same time they can be multiplied
as numbers. Microsoft should decide either to allow all mathemtical
manipulations or prohibit all.
